Pants or jeans? Blouse or sweater? Or maybe formal costume or dress? And which color to choose? Everyone was asking his/her friends, parents or colleagues the same question before public speaking, interview for a new job, an important date or simply grandmother’s birthday. In the modern society, first impressions, usually, depends on the way which clothes you wear and how you look. Garments are the first thing that we take into consideration, when we see the person. Clothing affects the perception of the person, who wears it at the stage of feelings and impressions. The manner of dressing is largely determined by the individual psychological characteristics of the person. Therefore, clothes of the human beings must conform their inner content. Appearance can say a lot about the interior world of the individual. From the sociological research, in 85 cases out of 100, the first impressions of people are created by their appearance. So, even an intelligent and decent person should be attentive to what he is wearing, if he wants to have a good relationship with the society around. In past times, clothing displayed the person's pertain to a particular social group or profession. In many cases, the form of clothing was strictly regulated. Especially, severe demands were at courts. In our time, the requirements for clothing are not so categorical. But even now in developed democracy, the heads of firms, offices attach great importance to the appearance of their employees. Practice shows that for carefully dressed people there is more attentive attitude than for others. Therefore, the topic of how dress can “speak” is very significant for the modern times.
“Style is a reflection of your attitude and your personality” (Shawn Ashmore).
The choice of style is perceived as an evidence of the personal "I". More precisely - to which stereotypes the human adheres to, what he considers correct, decent, and gorgeous. A person is "automatically" attributed to those character traits, which are traditionally associated with the clothes, in which he appears in the society. For example, when the man is wearing an official uniform every day, he is mechanically assigned for a certain role and he is expected to have the corresponding behavior. Facilitating the attribution of the role (expected by the society), the uniform restricts a range of anticipated actions from both: the perceiver and the wearer. For example, from a person in a white coat we expect a behavior of an easy-going and unserious human; from a person, who wears a military uniform we expect a strong character and braveness; the woman, who is dressed in gown and apron, and a woman in a ballroom dress does not only perceived, but also behaves differently. Due to the words of the Dominican fashion designer, who is well-known as Oscar de la Renta: ‘Fashion is about dressing according to what is fashionable? Style is more about being yourself ’.Therefore, we are able to underline the importance of the division on what is in the trend and what is simply casual and comfortable. So, the main idea of the term “style” and “stylish” rely on the personal character, behavior and interests. It is something very individual and unique.
Colors also can play a significant role and “speak” about the nature of human beings. However, in the different world cultures, the same color may have various meanings and you need to remember this, when you travel abroad and conducting a business with foreigners.
For example, in the Western culture, black is primarily considered to be official, solid and restrained, but this is not all values associated with it. Black clothes are often worn on the funerals. Priests wear black as a sign of their humility before God. Some fashion experts, especially Coco Chanel, say that black clothes on a woman look wonderful and means her submission to a man. Black is also worn in the movies by villains and witches, with the aim to show their disgusting nature. However, many women prefer black color in clothes, believing that it makes their figure visually more slender. Howbeit, this is a very heavy, completely absorbing color, the effect of which, for the fat people, turns out to be absolutely opposite: black makes them even more massive and tough. Sometimes, it impacts on other people and make them feel themselves uncomfortable in the company of such called ‘black wearers’. Black colour is also considered to be exquisite and chic, but, if a woman comes to an interview in a black suit and a white blouse, then she will have less chance to get a job. Why? Because the combination of white and black seems to be too authoritarian, cold and hostile, and it can evokes a disaffection of the person, who conducts the interview. As Nina Garcia, the main editor of the fashionable journal ‘Elle’, mentioned: ‘I am a real believer in dressing tone-on-tone. I am not saying you need to dress in black. Dress just one color, so the colors are not breaking your silhouette’.
The completely opposite to black colour are pastel pink, blue and lilac. They symbolize tranquility, femininity, and softness of the character. But, before making the decision to wear the clothes of such colors, you need to understand with whom you are going to meet, and which impressions you want to make. What is the purpose of the appointment? If you need to show your solidity and energy, to get a promotion or a job, clothes in pastel colors are unlikely to help you with this, because in it you cannot impress the self-confident and very assertive person. This information is also very useful for men, who adore to wear shirts and ties in pastel tones. Therefore, summarizing all information, we get a full picture of how the colors can ‘speak’ in the real life of the modern society.
Some types of clothes can show  disrespect to the citizens of a particular country. Therefore, it is significant to know which clothes you are able to put into your luggage and which may lead to reproaches and indignation of the local population and, perhaps, will bring you some kind of problems. In Arabic countries women are prohibited to wear mini-skirts, shorts and blouses with open décolleté. Mostly, they should be dressed in long skirts or trousers, and things with long sleeves (which must hide their hands). In some religious Muslim countries women must wear hijab and burqa. They cannot show any parts of their bodies, except eyes.  Thanks to this kind of clothing, women become more isolated from other members of the society. It is generally believed that such outfit suppresses the will of the girls, but, in my opinion, it attracts a man to a certain girl not from the side of appearance, but from the personal traits, such as intellect, wisdom, upbringing, and so on and so for. Due to the previous paragraph about colors we can also underline that black color of burqa makes those, who wear it much more invisible. Therefore, sometimes may happen such situation, when it starts to be very hard to find your wife on the overcrowded streets or in the malls.
In reference to international business dress-code, there are also some rules and norms, which everyone need to follow. Such official type of clothes as suit & tie, white and black, or cocktail & ballroom dress can tell about your profession, education, level of prosperity and even your status in the society. According to the words of famous American actress, Loretta Young: “Wearing the correct dress for any occasion is a matter of good manners”. From the childhood our parents teach us that for the school we need to wear school uniform, for the special conferences  jacket, white shirt or blouse, and skirt to the knee or strict pants, for the wedding or official meeting women should be dressed in the gorgeous evening gowns and men in the tuxedos. But why is it so important?
'I love dressing myself for different occasions and having dress codes. For me, it is such a fun thing to have a reason to think about dressing within restraints or codes or rules, so it is something I have fun with' (Margherita Missoni).
Usually, such rules and norms come to us, because of the authorities and celebrities. For example, Queen of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II has a unique wardrobe and excellent taste on stylish official clothes. In her closet there are more than a thousand different hats for any event. Despite her age (91 years), she remains the same exquisite and principled woman, who has never allowed herself to appear on public in an improper form. Thus, the international dress-code is an integral part of social life, and in order not to cause unseemly emotions and attitudes towards oneself as a part of the society, everyone should be aware of the rules and norms of clothing, or they are risking to be  "clowns on the celebration'.

According to the psychological researches, people most often choose their wardrobe under the influence of the momentary mood. Some people are characterized by an unconscious claim to originality, through which they create an image that is mostly in tune with their ideas and their status. The researches are usually based on the categories of style, which human beings are wearing in most cases, such as classical, solemn, business, sport, denim, etc.
For example, psychologists underline that people, who prefer to wear classical style, are rather skeptical and not inclined to spend themselves on trifles. They direct all their forces to important practical matters, strive for everything that is reliable, thorough and correct. They also have the ability to communicate with individuals, with whom they prefer to stay on the official distance.  Such people respect the old good traditions, that give the charm to their lives, and honor the rules of etiquette, and they consider the frankly clarifying of relations to be a senseless waste of time and power.
Those people, who like to be dressed in solemn style, are usually using favorite black & white (and sometimes bright red) clothes at the same time. Black colour, in such situation, expresses an inside tension, unbalance and some part of negative thoughts, and white color shows shyness, isolation from the society, an idealized view of the world and his/her place in it. Such kind of person is very cautious approaching with other people, has inflated claims, and when the collapse of his illusory world is a tragedy and the disaster of all his life, the dominant colors in his/her clothing changing from the black & white to the black & red.
The next type are people, who fall in love with the business, discreet, uncritical, neat, conservative style of clothes. As a rule, they are intellectuals, with the strong mental abilities, and with a stiff correctness, that is giving them confidence in themselves. They ponder for a long time, before to make a concrete decision. Mostly, they are not reacting on other people's words and actions immediately, at first they are analyzing the situation. However, the hearts of such lovers of business style usually remain to be cold, even in the hottest situations. They do not disclose their souls to everyone, because of the prejudice, that the surrounding society, are not able to understand the thoughts of business style wearers. Therefore, such individuals, in fact, are lonely. They do not realize that the reason for their isolation lies in a negative life experience or in false conclusions.
The fans of sport style are usually very active and energetic. They believe that clothes should not restrain movement and should be comfortable. Such people are, mostly, fond of competition and always ready to fight for a place under the sun. The person, who wears denim style every day, always strives for naturalness (because jeans are made from natural fabrics). In addition, jeans are universal. It is evident that the basis for the style of such an individual is inconsistency. Therefore, when you choose this or that style of clothing, do not forget about the well-known folk wisdom: people meet you by your clothes, but they accompany you by your smartness.
In conclusion, I would like to say, it is necessary to underline the importance of the correct choice of your own style in clothing. Some people believe that if you are not wearing fashionable expensive designers’ garments you do not cost their attention, which is a completely false opinion. Even with the limited budget you are able to look like a queen. Nowadays, the brandish clothes are not so shared and popular. People and even designers are searching for something really new, unique and gorgeous. This mission is extremely hard, because the fashion coming back every 25-50 years.  The same as in the 80s, in 2017 in fashion again are flared jeans, crop-tops and t-shirts, careless hairstyles and chokers on the neck. But does it really have sense if you are not feeling yourself comfortable wearing such things? Your style, your clothes, your appearance can “speak” without your voice. From the first sight on human we can understand his/her character, way of living, level of education, profession and hobbies, even without conversation. So,  why we still take into consideration the fact of how much this or that thing cost, changing ourselves into uncontrollable herd of consumers? To be a real human with the good traits of character should be more important than the fact that you are wearing Chanel or Gucci.
But, as usual, everything is up to you.
